Robin Merkley

I’m Robin Merkley and I’m seeking the opportunity to serve as a member of the Glendora Unified School District Board of Education.  As a mother and community member with decades of experience in education, I am well qualified to serve Glendora's schools.

 

I moved to Glendora 30 years ago before my first child was born. Since that time, I have had five children who have all gone through Glendora's excellent schools. For over 20 years while my children were in school I was actively involved in their education. During the years my kids were in school, I felt it was important to be involved in their education and found a great vehicle serving in PTA.  I was PTA president at three different schools and also served as Council PTA president.  In terms of my education, I earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Cal Poly Pomona and have been a substitute teacher in GUSD for over 10 years.  These experiences have provided a valuable opportunity to see education from the viewpoint of both a parent and a teacher.

 

 During the years I spent in the classroom and involved with PTA, I developed interest in the broader Glendora community. Pursuing that interest, I have served in many community positions, including as president of Glendora Community Coordinating Council and on the Library Board of Trustees.  Additionally, I have also served on the Calendar and Budget Committees and chairman of the Bond Oversight Committee for Glendora Unified School District.  I have the experience and the desire to serve the kids of Glendora.  I seek your support on November 3rd.
